Dragon Ball Z Sucks :STamp:

Another stamp that really needed to be done.

I feel like I'm one of the few that actually despises Z. Where the the first Dragon Ball had plenty of fun, plot, story (some of it, anyway), neat characters, and even well drawn out action, Z did the exact opposite.

Bland, stiff characters, predictable & incoherent plots, almost bereft of any real storytelling, character development was almost nonexistent with the exceptions of Piccolo, Gohan (until he got older), and Vegina. Let's not forget how the characters spend more time yapping for over 9,000 episodes before getting to any action or fighting, and even WHEN the fights started they were an absolute joke. Fighting scenes lasted no more than 2 minutes, and all they consisted of was colliding balls of light, lots of yelling, and speed lines with fists flying directly at the camera.

But if there's something else that really makes me laugh more than the Z series as a whole, it's how it's own fanbase pretends it "paved" the way for all anime, or how "just because someone says it sucks doesn't mean it does", or how "no other anime was as influential as Dragon Ball Z", or my favorite "it's everywhere, so it can't suck".



Dragon Ball Z didn't pave the way for ANY good quality anime. If anything it only paved and influenced other shitty animes that relied on mindless storytelling, lasting longer than needed, and pretending it didn't need a story to be any good. If anything Bobobobobobobo took straight from DBZ's own absurdities (as well as other mainstream anime) and made that perfectly clear. If there was an anime that paved way for anything, especially action, I'd definitely say Yuyu Hakusho did that, and unfortunately most idiots forget that one. Even Kill La Kill had a far more consistent, albeit GENERIC and IDIOTIC storyline, with ACTUAL action scenes that DBZ failed to do; basically fan service.

Dragon Ball Z is a PERFECT example as to why Miyazaki said anime was a mistake (which I don't fully agree with, but you get it).

As for "it's everywhere and people talk about it a lot, so it can't suck" Yeah everyone talked about Justin Bieber, Twilight, One Direction, Cars, and Zootopia yet those were utter crap too. Explain that.

If you want some REAL anime with REAL influence, ACTUAL storytelling, character development, and consistent storytelling then watch anything Miyazaki has made. Or if we're talking anime outside of Miyazaki, then you definitely need to watch Cyborg 009, Yuyu Hakusho, Card Captor Sakura, Digimon and Digimon Frontier, Gundam, Zenki, Sailor Moon, Ghost in the Shell, Samurai Champloo, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, and Buso Renkin.

If I had to admit anything cool about the series, it would be Shenron and the Namekian dragon.

If you like it, that's fine, I won't force you to change your mind, but that does NOT mean I will just because you're "the biggest DBZ fan evar".
